Duricef is an anti-bacterial pill that comes under the category of cephalosporin-type antibiotic. It is only used to treat bacterial infections. The way it works is by preventing the bacteria cell wall formulation thereby preventing them from multiplying.
Duricef will not treat any viral or fungal infections. But when it comes to bacterial infections, it targets a wide variety of these infections including urinary tract infections, sore throat and skin infections. Apart from the aforementioned uses, the medicine is also used before certain dental procedure in people who contain artificial heart valves. This is done to prevent an infection related to the lining of the heart.

Duricef comes in the dosage strengths of 250mg and 500mg. The dosage however depends upon person to person and the medical illness they are suffering from. 250mg of this medicine is considered to be the ideal and recommended dosage for most individuals. Take Duricef only according to the prescribed stipulations. Overuse or misuse can lead to reduced effectiveness of this antibiotic medicine. The medicine can be taken with or without food. But to avoid any stomach problems or gastrointestinal problems take it with food.

Missing a dose and overdose
One can take the missed dose of Duricef as soon as you remember. In case if it is already time to take the next dose, then you can skip the missed dose and continue taking the next dose i.e. the scheduled dose. For amounts more than 250mg of this med in children under the age of six, can lead to overdose where emptying of the stomach is may be necessary. For other overdose cases, rush to nearest clinic immediately.
