Zanaflex is a muscle relaxant drug that contains the active ingredient Tizanidine. The short-acting drug’s effects can be felt centrally and not in any particular part of the body. The available doses of this drug are 2 mg, 4 mg and 6 mg. The patient is usually started on the minimum dose as that is strong enough to treat the symptoms. The orally administered pills have an active half-life of two and a half to three hours

Drugs that should be avoided while on Zanaflex are Acyclovir, anti-allergy pills, Famotidine, Cimetidine, Ticlopidine, birth control pills, Zileuton, blood pressure medicines, and antibiotics.
